The Postmistress Cafe and Store is nestled at the entrance of historic Hartley village, just ten minutes west of the Blue Mountains. The old Hartley post office was established in 1845, the eighth in the colony, and The Postmistress name honours the many women who have run the post office and store since then.
We cook delicious fresh food on site (sourced locally wherever possible) with a menu that changes daily and the best coffee west of the Blue Mountains. Our store boasts a beautiful array of artisanal goods created by mainly local makers, including our own soaps, handmade scarves, jams and preserves.
The village of Hartley is a special place in its significance as both an Aboriginal meeting place and early colonial settlement. The grounds of The Postmistress include beautiful gardens, outdoor seating, walks nearby and more.
